An important microscope alignment involves the centering
of the condenser aperture about the optical axis. If the
aperture is off-centre the beam is displaced away from the
axis as the condenser lens is focused.
Try aligning the beam in the simulation opposite.
You will know that you have the correct setting of the x
and y shifts when, as you change the C2 control, the beam
opens concentrically about the cross at the centre of the
screen.
