Cleanness/consistency

Why are inclusions important in steelmaking?   3 of 7

Inclusions can have a major impact on the processing characteristics of a steel, and also the final in-service physical properties of the steel. For example during hot and cold working / rolling inclusions can cause defects / tears in the steel. In the steel making ladle process alumina particles can block the oxygen lance nozzle. In general inclusions are considered to be undesirable during steel processing.
