Deformation of Materials

Many materials deform in the ways we have seen - elastic deformation, followed by plastic deformation for ductile materials. Further treatment of the elastic properties of materials can be found in the Young Modulus module.

Some materials do not follow this behaviour. Most notable are some plastics and polymers which undergo an effect called elastic hysterisis.
