This module concentrates on diffraction from crystalline materials, although diffraction techniques are also used to study amorphous solids, liquids and gases.

Indexing of planes and directions

• Throughout this module you will need to be familiar with crystallographic conventions such as the indexing of directions and planes using Miller indices.
