plane lattice types which
exist there is a
corresponding reciprocal lattice unit cell. Remember
that the five plane lattice types are: primitive oblique, primitive rectangular,
rectangular centred, primitive square, and primitive hexagonal.

five plane lattice types are shown here. Use the buttons on the left hand side to select a
lattice type. Change the size of the unit cell vectors a
and b by dragging the white
lattice points. Notice the corresponding effect on shape of the
reciprocal lattice unit cell.
